Try!

Success in a given endeavor is achieved by those who try to succeed. (In this context, the word “try” should be understood as being synonymous with action—with exerting the actions necessary to accomplish an objective.) Yet sometimes we think it's “too soon,” or that we're “not ready,” or that there's no point in taking action because we'll probably “fail.” But what is the real downside here? What is the worst that could happen? More often than not there is little to lose by trying, and a great deal to gain if successful. If that is indeed the case, by all means try!

Why Do You Think What You Think?

If and when you make assertions, be prepared to defend them. If you can't explain why you think what you think, then why do you think it in the first place?

Opportunity?

The word "opportunity" is defined in the Lexicon as "a perception of the mind which enables individuals to solve problems, change, improve or reach goals and dreams." It is important to note that an opportunity is a perception. In other words, two different people can evaluate the exact same situation in completely different ways. One person may see a hopeless situation while the other may see it as something to take advantage of or learn from. Such perceptions lay the groundwork for beliefs which in turn govern the actions and the potential of the individual. But fortunately for us, perceptions are not fixed. With a little time and effort we can learn to see things differently. Perhaps opportunities are not as scarce as they may seem?

Someday Is Now

The only moment in time which really exists is now. Neither the past, nor the future really exist. The past is a memory of previous "now" moments. The future is a collection of potential "now" moments. But the only moment which truly exists is this one—right now. We often postpone our goals and dreams to the ambiguous "someday." The truth, however, is that someday is now. The only moment you will ever have is right now.

Satirical Responsibility

“It's your fault I'm acting this way!”

Really—are you serious?

It's my fault that you're acting the way you're acting? You have no choice in the matter? You are a mere extension of my will? What about the fact that you just said “it's your fault I'm acting this way”—is that my fault as well? Is it really true that you have no control over your actions? Is it not possible to determine how you respond to my behavior? If I have provoked you, have you not chosen to respond to my provocation? Is it really true that you are helpless before me?

Perhaps I possess supernatural powers of mind-control?

Perhaps I am your master and you are my slave?

or

Perhaps you are responsible for your actions?

The Starting Point

All achievements have been created twice. First in the mental (thought) world, and second in the physical (material) world. This first cause or "mental creation" is the starting point of all achievement; it is the process of defining what it is you want, and seeing it (visualizing) as if it were actually happening.

Discipline

Discipline is simply the ability to do what you commit to do. If you can't fully commit, don't. Be consistent. Do what you commit yourself to do and only commit to do what you are willing to do. Actions perpetuate themselves. Develop discipline in small things and your habit will carry over into large things.

Life and Habit

A good life is the result of consciously developed habits. Control and master your habits and they will place the world at your feet. Allow them to run wild and undisciplined and they will destroy you.

The Result of Fear

Fear often reveals itself as indecision, doubt and procrastination, ultimately resulting in inaction. Without action, the most vital element of success, nothing can be accomplished and the wheels of human ingenuity stop turning.
